Durham Road features in so many of my childhood memories - Nanny and Grandad Angliss, Aunt Meg and Uncle Sid, Von and 'the boys'', and all the neighbours. It was such a close community, perfectly safe for us 'kids' to run wild. I remember the smiling face and infectious laugh of 'Uncle' George on the door step when we rang the doorbell, then ran away chanting, 'Georgie, Porgie....etc..etc...' Did I really do that? Sorry George. As we all moved away, that community spirit sadly disappeared, but happy memories linger on. I really hope the heavenly golf courses are up to scratch for you George!
